Kaela Murphy: Project 3

 I have applied to the Stride Gallery Prairie Crocus project space to display the braid, now titled extension, but it will not be installed there in time for the final critique as it is still going through submissions. Instead, I will be displaying the work in the niche gallery. I want to utilize these spaces because the walls and window fronts of these spaces will provide barriers for the viewer from all angles, not allowing them to touch the object of their desire and instead forcing them to grapple with their privileged perceptions. This will allow me to confront the viewer while simultaneously not allowing them to respond, an act that reverses the role that I so often unwillingly assume. I am going to install it in the niche gallery a few days before the final critique, so images will be coming later.
